To Whom It May Concern,
My name is Diane Sterner. I am trying to locate some information on
the Joseph Osborne family. I'm hoping that perhaps you might be able to help
me.
I have Joseph Osborne as being born between 1773 - 1775 in Southbury,
New
Haven County, Connecticut. He married Clarissa Towner on January 31, 1798
in Southbury, Connecticut. Clarissa was the daughter of Joseph Towner and
Mary Bronson.
I don't know who Joseph Osborn's parents were.
According to my records, they had at least three children: Maria -
born 1800 in Southbury, Connecticut; Clarissa - born 1903 in Southbury,
Connecticut and married to Calvin Goodrich on 21 February 1841; and Joseph
L. Osborn - born 1806 in Durchess County, New York and married Amanda (last
name unknown) between 1830 - 1837).
Clarissa Towner Osborne died 19 October 1832 in Oxford, Connecticut. It
is said that Jospeh, Sr. and the children then moved to Jefferson County,
New York where he later died.
I know that in the 1850 and 1860 census, Joseph L. and Amanda are in
Otsego County, New York with their family.
Could you please check any reocrds that you may have to see if you
have anything at all on Joseph or any of his family? I would really like to
try and find out when Joseph, Sr. died and just who his parents were. I
would also like to find out when son, Joseph died also.
