Lived on Lot 310, 12th district, Ware County. Sold land to Abraham Hargraves in 1851 then on lot 149, 12th district until 1871. John is buried at Pleasant Cementary, Berrien County, Georgia.

John fought in the Civil War. Lessie Griffis stated that he rode on a black horse. That he died in the battle of Savannah, when Sherman came through.
