BIOGRAPHY: John A. Skinner was an outstanding breeder of draft horses. He bought in many pur
ebread horses and probably did more than any other single individual for the improvement of horses in the area. He owned several excellent teams, both heavy draft and traveling teams. He used to boast how fast he could drive from Montpelier to his Nounan ranch. His horses were always well fed and his ability to train them was almost uncanny.
