Notes
Individual:
Alma was born at the family farm on Long Bridge Road, not too far from Eagle Harbor, NY. Her funeral service was held at Grinnell Funeral Home in Albion, NY on January 5, 1957 at 2 p.m. The clergyman was Rev. Jesse Young. She was buried beside her husband, C.A. Cutts, at Morton Union Cemetery in Morton (Orleans Co.) NY at 3 p.m. that same day. She was 84 years, 3 months and 21 days old when she died.
As a child, I remember vaguely being held and rocked by her. She would also read Bible stories to me and sing I am told.
According to my mother, Helen Hungerford Tiffany, Alma was very strict. They were married in the Root family home on Long Bridge Road near Albion, NY by Rev. H.W. McDowell.

1941 - EAGLE HARBOR COUPLE CELEBRATE GOLDEN WEDDING DAY
Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. CUTTS, who observed their 50th wedding anniversary Tuesday, September 23, have lived in Eagle Harbor for 47 of them. The couple said their nuptial vows in 1891 at the home of the bride in Long Bridge Road. She was formerly Alma L. ROOT. The ceremony tookplace in the homestead built by the bride's (great)grandfather, who came here in 1820. Mrs. and Mrs. CUTTS then went to Kendall Mills to live until 1894 when they came to Eagle Harbor to the old RYAN home and blacksmith shop. They have resided here ever since except for two winters in Rochester. Mr. CUTTS is now retired from his trade as a blacksmith.
Because Mrs. CUTTS' two brothers live out of the state and could only get here for the weekend, their golden anniversary was celebrated a few days early, last Sunday, to be exact. The only member of the immediate family unable to be present was a grandson, Robert HUNGERFORD, who is stationed with the parachute division at Fort Benning, Ga., and is now out on maneuvers with his company.
Guests included the "bride's" two brothers, Levi S. of Canton, Pa., and John H. ROOT of Cleveland, O., and their wives; Mrs. CUTTS' sister, Mrs. Walter SMYTHE, and Mr. SMYTHE of Rochester; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Henry ROOT of Kendall Mills and daughter Elizabeth of Rochester; the CUTTS' son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Claude HUNGERFORD; granddaughter, Mrs. Ralph TIFFANY, amd Mr. TIFFANY; great-granddaughter, Judith Ann TIFFANY of Mount Morris; grandson, James HUNGERFORD, and Mr. CUTTS' cousin, Walter CUTTS and Mrs. CUTTS of Hilton. Other guests were present from Rochester, Arcade, Buffalo, Lockport, Holley, Kendall Mills, Albion and surrounding towns.
At the anniversary festivities a beautiful day, fine dinner, music and moving pictures were enjoyed by about 40 relatives and guests. Many beautiful gifts of flowers, a purse of about $40 and nearly 100 congratulatory cards made the day one not to be forgotten for the couple. They were wished by everyone present continued good health and happiness with many more likewise anniversaries.

1949 - EAGLE HARBOR FOLKS WED 58 YEARS TODAY
Albion--Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. CUTTS of Eagle Harbor are celebrating their 58th wedding anniversar quietly at their home today. They were married on September 23, 1891, by the Rev. Mr. McDonnell, the pastor at Eagle Harbor.
The marriage ceremony was performed in the bride's home on Long Bridge Road, west of Eagle Harbor, a home built by her great-grandfather, Joseph ROOT, in the early days of the 19th Century. The bride, who was formerly Miss Alma L. ROOT, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd ROOT.
Mrs. CUTTS is 77 now, having celebrated her birthday on Sept. 14. Her husband is 81 and will mark his next birthday on Jan. 4.
A few years after marriage the couple lived at Kendall Mills, but in 1895 they bought the old RYAN house at Eagle Harbor and moved there, and there they have lived ever since, except for two winder's which they spent in Rochester. Mr. CUTTS bought out an Eagle Harbor blacksmith shop and for many years he made his living at that trade. Later, however, he did electrical work, and for the past few years he has served as bridge tender at the Barge Canal bridge at Eagle Harbor.
They had two children, a daughter, who is now Mrs. Claude HUNGERFORD, and a son, who died about 50 years ago. They have three grand-children, Mrs. Helen TIFFANY, Robert HUNGERFORD ad James HUNGERFORD, and four great-grandchildren, Judy TIFFANY and Dorothy TIFFANY, and Gary and Claudia HUNGERFORD, children of Mr. and Mrs. Robert HUNGERFORD.
