When Nicholas Palmes, owner of Naburn, died in 1551, he was succeeded by his son, Brian, who was in possession to 1581. In October 1577, he paid 2 pounds for his wife's offence in not going to her parish church on sixteen Sundays and four holy days. In January 1578 he owed 4 pounds 13.0 for his wife's offence. In 1580 he took to court certificates that he and his family had conformed and was ordered to bring one for his wife, which he did on 17 January 1581.
