Individual:
This family can boast of considerable antiquity. It was originally seated in the County Of Somerset, and so far back as the twelfth century it is found in alliance with the great Somerset House of St. Maur, which had summons to parliament in the reign of King Edward II. The estate of Naburn has regularly descended from father to son since the year 1226.
Ref: Naburn: Geographical and Historical Information from the year 1892.
This family was originally settled at Taunton Dene, county Somerset, where Manfred Palmes, in the sixth year of King Stephen (1140), had by the gift of Milo, Earl of Hereford and Constable of England, 53 oxgangs of land and 25 messuages.
